Part 1: Setting up a Phantom Wallet

Visit Phantom and select your browser type. Follow steps in your respective extension store to add Phantom to your browser. After installing, you should see Phantom start up in a new tab.

If you are a brand new Solana user, select "Create New Wallet".

Next, store your "Secret Recovery Phrase" in a safe and secure location, it is the only way to recover your wallet. Whoever has access to this phrase has access to your funds.

Your wallet credentials should be kept private!

When creating your new Phantom wallet, you'll be given a seed phrase of 12 randomly generated words. These words can give you (or anyone else!) access to your account to send transactions and add or remove funds from your account. Keep this seed phrase somewhere secure, and never share it on the internet. We recommend 1Password for keeping it secure.

By default, your Phantom wallet will be on Mainnet. For the purposes of this tutorial, you will need to switch over to Devnet by going to the Settings icon on the bottom right, scrolling down to “Change Network” and selecting “Devnet”.
